FAQs
Common questions
How often should I go to the dentist?
At least twice a year (every 6 months). Most decay and soft-tissue problems are easily treated if caught quickly, and we tailor recall visits to your oral health needs.
When should my child first visit the dentist?
The sooner children get used to the dental office, the better. If a child has teeth, it's time for a visit. For some children that's as early as age 3, and we'll check how the teeth and jaw are developing.
What is a night guard?
A clear plastic wafer that sits over your upper or lower teeth, most often worn at night. It keeps clenching and grinding from wearing down teeth, can help prevent fractures and can ease TMJ symptoms.
What can I do about missing teeth?
Missing teeth can be replaced with fixed restorations (bridges or implants) or removable ones (partial or full dentures). Each has advantages and disadvantages, and fixed restorations are the most like your own teeth.
How safe are dental x-rays?
Modern x-ray machines and fast films have significantly reduced radiation exposure, making dental x-rays quite safe.
